Bluesfest: Day 12

July 19th was the final day of Ottawa Bluesfest.
Time goes by really quickly while you are having a fun time.
These 12 days have been amazing.

The highlights of the night were:
Deer Tick
Handsome Furs
The Dead Weather
C.R. Avery with the Sojourners
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
There were some stuff during the afternoon but there wasn’t much to cover.
Things got started at 6pm with the Deer Ticks at Rogers Stage.
Their music is alternative rock with abit of country.

Handsome Furs were great and I love them alot.
Which was nice that the husband/wife duo got to play the Bank Of America stage.
Had alot of room to play during their 45 minute set.
I got to chat for abit with Alexei before the show started.
Amazing person to meet.

Caught abit of C.R. Avery at the Blacksheep Stage.
I saw him last fall at OCFF and he was amazing with his beatboxing.
At the end of the song he got people on their feet and danced.

The Dead Weather just blew me away with their loud rocking sound.
I didn’t know it was Jack White’s band and he played the drums.
The lead singer Alison Mosshart was crazy when she just belted out a song.
She has that rocker chick essence.

The final act to play Bluesfest was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
First song was Heads Will Roll and Karen O came out wearing a pink mask.
It was a great show.
I was happy to hear Gold Lion and Zero.
Cool to see a giant inflatable Eye Ball rolling out of the stage and into the crowd.

These 12 days have been interestingly fun.
Have to say the best shows at Bluesfest was Girl Talk, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, The Balconies, Kyrie Kristmanson, Holy Fuck, Okkervil River and DeVotchKa.
Here is hoping for something great next year.

Bluesfest: Day 11

Day 11 of Bluesfest was another great time.
I mostly spent time at the Blacksheep Stage since most of the lineup I was eager to see.
Caught two acts in the Bank Of America stage while I only watched and listened to Ludacris at Rogers Stage.

The acts that I caught were:
Funktagon
Honeyman and the Brothers Farr
Hollerado
Poorfolk
Woodhands
The Deep Dark Woods
That 1 Guy
Black Mountain

Bluesfest: Day 10

It seemed to be a calm Friday night at Bluesfest.
The acts that I saw were:
Watters Brothers
Hundreds and Thousands
Silver Creeks
Cake
Paolo Nutini
Blue Rodeo (Mostly watched and listened)
Ottawa act Watters Brothers started off the show.
I was kind of confused on when they started doing hip-hop?

Caught abit of Hundreds and Thousands.
Very power pop-rock sound.

I have to say the best acts was seeing Cake and Paolo Nutini.
Cake was very entertaining considering I was familiar with the songs they played.
I was happy to hear Short Skirt/Long Jacket and I did get an autograph of the lead singer.

Paolo Nutini was like going to a boy band show since there were alot of girls screaming like crazy.
It is great to have someone from Europe come to Ottawa and play a show.
Great singer to check out.
Paolo Nutini @ Ottawa Bluesfest

There was a big crowd for Blue Rodeo.
I was familiar with any of the songs they played.
Waiting for them to play Try which they did for their encore.
Something about that song just gets me singing like an idiot.
